Associate Director, Business Systems & Field Excellence
Location: Boston (3 days per week in office)
The Associate Director Business Systems & Field Excellence will partner with Alexion’s Commercial organization to enable the field to engage with HCPs and Accounts more effectively, with customer insights, enhanced orchestration, and increased collaboration. One of the key systems the individual will manage is Veeva CRM, a platform heavily utilized by the Commercial field to manage their activities, events, and virtual engagements with Healthcare Professionals.
Though the role engages with a broad range of processes and stakeholders, the individual’s primary focus will be to create value for the field organization, and to meet and exceed Commercial priorities. The position is dynamic, highly collaborative, and will play a critical role in setting the organization up for future success. The role sits within Business Operations and Commercial Effectiveness (BOCE) in the US organization.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead and engage with US Sales, HCP Operations, Sales Operations & Insights, and Marketing stakeholders to ensure that key business strategies can be broken down to effective, measurable, and scalable processes that are harmonized with business systems (e.g., CRM) and technology
- Team leadership support: Partner with the Director and other AD to oversee day‑to‑day team operations, including workload visibility, prioritization, clear direction setting, and handling escalations as needed.
- Scope, deliver, and scale meaningful CRM and other sales optimization platforms such as rxVantage and Veeva Link which minimize duplication, reduce work in the system, and enable field teams to reach their customers more effectively and efficiently
- Drive system and process adoption through strategic and operational change management activities, including presenting to and obtaining buy in with senior leadership
- Manage the rollout of system enhancements—from impact assessment and readiness planning to training, communications, and post‑launch adoption tracking and reinforcement.
- Be the CRM Lead/SME for product launches and collaborate across departments to ensure go-live readiness upon product approval.
- Boost virtual or digital activities across all of US Commercial (i.e. Marketing Material Digitization and Optimization)
- Establish and manage vendor relationships and investigate new system enhancements to continuously improve and optimize the use of existing platforms
- Supervise and facilitate the resolution of critical Veeva system issues in coordination with lT
- Represent the department in cross-functional projects to ensure that operations and digital interests and requirements are accounted for
- Understand the technicalities of CRM to cultivate successful partnerships with IT
You will need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years experience in implementing, managing, or enhancing Salesforce CRM, Veeva Suite (CRM, PromoMATs, Align), and/or related platforms
- Pharmaceutical industry experience including product launches
- Excels in business process optimization and business requirements gathering with a focus on how to build scalable systems and processes
- Proven ability in effectively working with and managing cross-functional teams, successfully navigating between Business and IT stakeholders
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with ability to interact with senior management
- Advanced Powerpoint or equivalent software skills for making strong presentations to key stakeholders
- Advanced Excel or equivalent software skills for data analysis
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Highly proactive and resourceful to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Strong project management, delivery, and risk management skills
- Vendor management experience including offshore
We prefer you to have:
- Veeva CRM or Salesforce.com certification
- Experience in rare disease Pharma
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $151,000- $226,000. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
