Diagnostics Strategic Manager - Andean Cluster

At AstraZeneca, we are looking for a Diagnostics Strategic Manager to join our Medical Affairs team in the Andean Cluster. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and executing the diagnostic and precision medicine strategy for oncology and rare diseases, ensuring timely access to high-quality diagnostic solutions that improve patient outcomes.
This position plays a key strategic role in strengthening the healthcare ecosystem by building diagnostic capabilities, fostering innovation, and establishing partnerships with key stakeholders. You will work closely with the Diagnostic Head and cross-functional teams to prepare the market for current and future launches, positioning diagnostics as a critical enabler of AstraZeneca’s portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Medical Leadership
Define and execute the diagnostic strategy for current therapies and upcoming launches across the Andean Cluster, ensuring strong alignment with business priorities. Develop operational and tactical plans by brand, region, and segment, while monitoring KPIs and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Provide robust scientific and clinical input to ensure a clear and compelling communication of the value of diagnostics and precision medicine.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with medical, marketing, access, regulatory, and commercial teams to integrate diagnostic strategies into brand plans and ensure launch readiness. Lead and support multidisciplinary teams across all diagnostic-related initiatives, while strengthening internal capabilities in precision medicine and rare disease diagnostics.
- Market Access & Innovation
Support regulatory approval processes and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that facilitate access and reimbursement of diagnostic tests. Identify barriers within diagnostic pathways and work with key stakeholders to improve access and reduce time to diagnosis. Continuously monitor scientific, regulatory, and market trends that impact patient identification and access to diagnostics.
- Diagnostics & Ecosystem Development
Evaluate diagnostic technologies, platforms, and laboratories to establish strategic partnerships that enhance diagnostic capabilities. Promote innovation in molecular diagnostics, ensuring AstraZeneca remains at the forefront of precision medicine. Optimize and standardize diagnostic pathways in key institutions to improve quality and efficiency, and support the development of real-world evidence (RWE) initiatives focused on diagnostics.
- External Engagement
Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with laboratories, academic institutions, scientific societies, and key healthcare stakeholders. Lead and support educational initiatives, including congresses, symposia, and digital scientific activities, to advance knowledge and adoption of diagnostic and precision medicine practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in health sciences (Microbiology, Biology, Bacteriology, Pathology, or related fields) with clinical laboratory knowledge.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, diagnostics, or medical devices.
- Strong knowledge of precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, and oncology/rare diseases.
- Proven ability to lead projects and work cross-functionally.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and in multidisciplinary teams.
- English proficiency (written and spoken).
- Experience within the Andean Cluster and strong understanding of the healthcare system and patient needs.
- Strong digital capabilities (Teams, Copilot, AZChatGPT, PowerPoint, Power BI).
