BPM Evidence is accountable for the delivery of global strategic studies required to generate the evidence to build the confidence on AZ therapies and additional observational research and externally sponsored research required by Global Product Teams.

The Director, Real World Data (RWD) Technology & Governance is an exciting new role that reports directly to the Senior Director, RWD Office and will be a strong force in realizing the benefits of emerging innovation in RWD and applying them to AZ therapeutic area strategies. This role will be accountable for driving the availability and governance of RWD sources, platforms, and technologies for medical and cross-functional partners to advance patient care. They will serve as internal expert on emerging technologies and solutions for generating RWE, including AI, tokenization, and federated learning. The incumbent will be a curious learner who excels at connecting the dots among new technologies/new RWD access models and disease area needs. The Director will be at ease when ideating on where Artificial Intelligence can help and adept at working with cross-functional teams to deliver successful RWD solutions. A tech-forward entrepreneurial spirit will be key!

Typical Accountabilities

• Serve as internal expert on emerging technologies and solutions for generating RWE, including AI, tokenization, and federated learning

• Evaluate RWD technologies and platforms to determine their strategic fit within the BPM Evidence generation workflow

• Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, enterprise data teams, privacy/security teams and vendors to integrate new solutions into existing studies and processes

• Partner with IT and enablement teams to maintain platform tools, such as databases for RWD assets, and other enterprise RWD solutions (e.g., customizable RWD visualization tools)

• Govern the access and use of acquired RWD to ensure compliance with internal and external rules and regulations

• Work with RWD Strategy and RWD Engineering to design and lead data quality validation of acquired RWD sources

• Serve as a point of contact between BPM Evidence and other teams utilizing RWD and associated tools and platforms within the enterprise

• Support the application of RWD technologies and tools to cross-functional use cases, including strategic planning, external scientific engagement, and impact measurement

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Business and/or medical science degree with industry experience is required

• Ability to contextualize technology solutions’ purpose into real world evidence generation workflows

• Extensive operational understanding of RWE/RWD, inclusive of experience working with secondary data (e.g. administrative claims, electronic medical records), common data models, and analytic tools

• Pragmatic problem solving skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams toward a common goal

• Experience with data governance within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related health care organization

• Excellent inter-personal, teaming skills, ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels in various geographies

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both oral and written

• Strong work ethic and high integrity standards

• Ability to lead and/or engage cross-functional working groups and teams to deliver results

• Curious learner

Desirable

• Excellent organizational and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives

• Experience working and delivering in both global and local market organizations

• Experience in healthcare or biopharma industry, with a strong preference for experience in BioPharma therapeutic areas
