Introduction to role:
This role leads the design, delivery and evolution of AI capabilities across Biometrics, turning complex data into meaningful insight that shapes critical decisions. You will provide technical leadership as an expert in information management and data integration, or through leading a specialist team, to drive consistent, scalable approaches to AI-enabled Biometrics. You will build and develop a cross-functional, multi-skilled team of experts, focused on continuous improvement, smarter execution and impactful outcomes for patients and the business.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the end-to-end process for maintaining AI solutions and conducting research within a niche area of Biometrics, ensuring delivery against timelines, budgets and collaborator expectations.
- Define and embed robust quality control frameworks that secure accuracy, completeness and validity of data and outputs, working closely with cross-functional partners to achieve objectives using AI solutions.
- Provide expert technical support to internal clients globally, resolving sophisticated technical challenges and shaping innovative AI approaches that address real-world problems.
- Develop, lead and encourage collaborative, multi-skilled teams spanning scientific fields, project management and AI/ML/NLP expertise to improve efficiency, consistency and quality of deliverables.
- Oversee initiatives that improve data interpretation and quality, safeguard data integrity and optimize cost and time efficiency across AI and Automation projects.
- Ensure all activities comply with AstraZeneca standards and external regulatory requirements, proactively managing risk and driving a culture of compliance.
- Act as a project leader for the AI function by defining process maps, embedding guidelines and ensuring effective process across teams and projects.
- Represent AstraZeneca and the Biometrics function at external conferences, workshops and stakeholder meetings, strengthening the organisation’s scientific and technological profile.
- Build strong internal and external networks, offering consultancy in specialist areas and sharing expertise to elevate team capability and project outcomes.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or Arts in a relevant discipline
- Extensive programming, Data science and Project management & change management experience in pharmaceutical or clinical settings
Extensive knowledge of databases and regulatory requirements
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Advanced degree in Business administration or Project management
- Recognized expert within the business and industry
- Extensive knowledge of current project management principles and technical programming languages like SAS/R/Python, AI and regulatory standards
