Expansion Director
The Expansion Director is responsible for driving the adoption and expansion of the External Expert Engagement Services (E3S) for HCP/Patients technology and global process within AstraZeneca. This role is part of the Global Business Services function, supporting the entire organization. Operating in a complex, high-activity environment, the Director ensures operational efficiency and effectiveness within the E3S space while delivering dependable, controlled systems and processes.
As an experienced professional, the Director will lead the Expansion strategy, focusing on onboarding, engagement, and implementation. The role also involves maintaining effective ongoing engagement with internal and external E3S partners and serving as a member of the E3S leadership team, reporting to the Head of E3S.
This is a hybrid position that will require travel to an AZ office 3 days per week.
Accountabilities:
Partner with E3S leaders to develop and implement the overall E3S strategy, including system scalability and a customer-centric roadmap for expansion.
Expand the use of E3S technology/service across marketing companies, business units, legal entities, and services.
Collaborate with E3S Technology leaders to drive expansion into new areas and service offerings.
Engage with potential internal/external customers to highlight service/technology benefits, secure their commitment, and lead all aspects of their migration.
Partner with stakeholders and customers to advise product/process vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.
Drive the delivery of deployment strategies for both adoption and expansion opportunities.
Identify local market deployment requirements to improve the E3S Process and Technology.
Handle key partner relationships within existing and target business units.
Maintain the service value proposition.
Lead Expansion Steer Co meetings with relevant leaders and partners to provide updates on expansion.
Handle the project budget in collaboration with finance leaders to ensure delivery against business case.
Identify continuous process and technology improvements through stakeholder interactions.
Manage a global/scalable expansion-oriented team.
Develop and implement relevant data metrics, dashboards, etc., providing actionable insights to the business.
Define the self-service user experience, support, and monitoring for customers in collaboration with user-focused departments.
Support recruitment and management of project resources.
Promote a culture of ethics, integrity, and compliance.
Participate in policy meetings, training, and transition activities as needed to support implementations.
Travel as needed to support the Expansion strategy.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5+ years pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience and/or process/project management experience
Experience leading a team in a matrixed environment
Proven knowledge of information/technology systems (e.g., MS applications, SAP)
Excellent interpersonal, conflict management, and customer relationship skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to think strategically and act independently
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle competing projects simultaneously
Strong ethical, collaborative, and influencing skills
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Extensive customer relationship management or project management experience
Significant experience in the pharmaceutical, medical education, contributions or employee profession
Prior experience in commercial (Marketing, Sales, Operations), scientific or regulatory areas such as Medical Education, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development & Regulatory Affairs
Background in commercial meeting management (ex. Veeva Meetings or IQVIA) preferred
Preferable experience with E3S technologies (e.g., Engage)
Proven ability to effectively manage high-pressure situations, particularly when interacting with senior executives with ability to respond to constructive feedback
