Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated senior scientist to join our team at the Center for Single Cell Studies (CSCS), Translational Medicine. The senior scientist will support translational research in clinical and preclinical studies by utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing technologies. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, a team player with a strong interest in technology and cancer biology.

Responsibilities-

  • Planning, preparing and executing procedures of single-cell RNA sequencing using different types of specimens.
  • Optimization of methods for single cell/nuclei RNA sequencing from fresh and archival clinical samples and solve problems during the process.
  • Transition of new technologies from proof-of-concept to standardized workflows
  • Delivery of reliable and high-quality data and metadata to computational analysis.
  • Synergize with scientists, Translational Medicine Leads and computational biologists.

Qualifications-

  • Ph.D. in life sciences or related field, with >3 years of experience in hands-on lab work, including tissue dissociation and cell/nuclei isolation.
  • Experience in single cell RNA sequencing techniques including specimen handling, quality control assessments, droplet-based cell processing, library construction and sequencing.
  • Deep understanding in immunology, cancer, genomics and RNA biology.
  • solid track record of performance, including successful completions of projects within a given timeframe and budget.
  • Outstanding ability to work independently and with a team- including problem solving, brainstorming, integrating data and helping other team members.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Innovative approach and enthusiasm to explore new technologies.

The Waltham R&D site focuses on our small-molecule oncology research in North America, and is situated within a biopharma cluster of research institutions, medical centers, pharmaceutical companies and startups. The Boston region is consistently ranked #1 globally for research, investment, talent recruitment and lab space.

The campus, also known as the Boston BioHub, is one of the largest and most dynamic life-science research hubs in the region.
