Latin America Government Affairs Associate Director, Vaccines & Infectious Disease Therapeutics
The Latin America Government Affairs Associate Director, Vaccines & Infectious Disease Therapeutics will be part of the Latin America Government Affairs Team and work closely with the Global Government Affairs and Policy Organisation. The role will be based in a Latin America country, and will assist the broader team in leading the government affairs function, building key partnerships with governments and public health stakeholders, while shaping the external environment in Latin America to support key business objectives.
Typical Accountabilities:
Lead regional engagement to develop and implement Government Affairs and Policy strategy for vaccines and infectious disease portfolio
Drive integrated corporate affairs strategy to capitalise on opportunities/ manage risks associated with vaccine supply during pandemic and post pandemic phases
Support launch of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 portfolio and longer-term strategy
Support establishment of Area cross-functional taskforce and ensure effective Government Affairs and Policy representation in country cross-functional taskforces
Establish issue/risk management strategy and implementation plan and lead execution in collaboration with key functions
Engage with key regional public health bodies and support countries’ strategy and engagement to implement shared Government Affairs and Policy priorities
Lead strategic rapid response team in collaboration with key functions to manage issues and or crises, including media and stakeholder engagement
Support AstraZeneca senior executives in vaccines and infectious diseases related engagements and speaking opportunities
To be successful in this role, you will need experience in the following:
Engagement in strategic government & legislative affairs, and outreaches, including stakeholder mapping, advocacy, immunization campaign awareness and execution
Experience and capabilities to provide guidance to countries for advocacy planning and execution towards executive, legislature, and multilateral organizations. Advise local organizations in building consensus around immunization, identifying critical data gaps, unlocking market access and public/regional tenders for key pharmaceutical and vaccine products
Experience managing public affairs resources in market in a matrixed organization
Experience collaborating and leading business organisations to develop engagement and commercial strategies to successfully deliver public sector vaccine business cases
Experience working with local, national, international and multilateral organisations on vaccine public policy
Experience developing market shaping and launch plans for vaccines in developing markets (experience in Latin America highly preferred)
High level stakeholder engagement experience with proven track record of leadership to deliver commercial outcomes
Experience developing and implementing risk management strategies to support above and in-market stakeholder engagement on vaccines
Experience managing policy risks to secure reimbursement of priority products
