Associate Director Disruptive Procurement

Location: Europe (preferably UK-London), China-Shanghai (Up to 40% travel)

As an Associate Director of Disruptive Procurement, you’ll play a pivotal role in channelling the current state of the entire Procurement division to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. The Associate Director Disruptive Procurement will work with leaders across various functions within all divisions of AZ including but not limited to: Commercial, R&D, IT, Operations, BD, etc. to co-collaborate and generate an accurate prognostication of the future of not only the pharmaceutical industry and procurement, but of the entire world in order to generate insights and knowledge to push AstraZeneca to continually be best in class. Approximately 60% of the time will be spent collaborating with key stakeholders, driving insights, presenting to and consulting with the Procurement Leadership team. 40% will be spent attending conferences, gathering external insights, and continually pushing to understand the quickly changing world around us. Due to the nature of the work and global view required, expected travel will be around 40%.

Key Accountabilities:

You will partner with and consult in partnership with the Disruptive Procurement Team Lead, the Procurement Leadership Team, Cross-Functional Leaders, and their Leadership Teams along with other key-stakeholders to challenge, disrupt, and push the organization to have an accurate view of where the world is going and how AZ will need to evolve to remain best in class.

You will generate insights, develop strategic positions, challenge current state, and present strategies that are clearly articulated and outline an accurate view of the future.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for disrupting the procurement organization and pushing for it to continually evolve in coordination with the rest of the Strategy & Operational Excellence team.

You will coach executive teams to think out-side of the box, challenge their own mindsets, and drive a new strategic plan forward.

In this role, you will promote a culture of continuous improvement utilising externally gathered insights.

Build trust and develop new relationships with internal and external partners to effectively collaborate and achieve successful outcomes at a global and regional level.

Essential Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Finance, MBA required
  • Consulting background required
  • Experience working globally including time in country in the US, Europe and Asia
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Experience working in large multi-national corporations with high cross-functional team coordination.
