Our GFS Digital Delivery team works within Global Finance Services to identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve business processes through digital technology. We are the catalyst for GC GFS in supporting the delivery of AstraZeneca’s 2030 ambition, by reducing manual work, connecting data and enabling faster decisions. We help our global teams deliver sustainable growth with trusted insight and end-to-end automation.
The team offers an evolving range of digital capabilities including analytics and reporting through Power BI, process automation and workflow solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform, data transformation using SQL and Python, and emerging data science and agentic AI solutions. As the team continues to grow, we are focused on building scalable, governed and end to end digital solutions that improve efficiency, enhance user experience and unlock value across the global GFS organisation.
Senior Solution Architect – GFS Digital Delivery
We are looking for a Senior Solution Architect to work closely with business stakeholders, operational teams and technical experts across Global Finance Services (GFS) to identify, shape and deliver scalable digital, automation, analytics and agentic AI solutions. The role holder should have a strong desire to work with emerging technologies and drive innovation, combined with hands-on experience delivering digital solutions across complex business environments. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, analytical thinking and problem-solving capability, alongside the ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate with clarity and impact across a global and geographically diverse stakeholder community. Experience in stakeholder engagement, process optimisation and digital transformation delivery is highly desirable, as is the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.
Main duties and responsibilities
The role will be responsible for the following activities:
Engage with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for digital transformation, automation, analytics, process improvement and agentic AI
Translate complex business and technical problems into scalable, practical and user-focused digital solutions
Lead early-stage discovery, solution shaping and requirement definition activities across digital initiatives
Design, develop and implement end to end digital, reporting, automation and AI-enabled solutions using technologies such as Power BI, Power Platform, SQL, Python, agentic AI tools or equivalent technologies
Explore, prototype and scale the adoption of agentic AI use cases that improve efficiency, decision-making, workflow automation and user experience
Provide hands-on technical expertise across complex or high-priority initiatives, including prototyping, troubleshooting and delivery support where required
Analyse business processes, operational data and user requirements to identify opportunities for simplification, optimisation, automation and AI-enabled transformation
Support the development of business cases, roadmap proposals and executive presentation materials
Contribute to the continuous improvement of digital delivery standards, governance processes and scalable solution design practices
Build strong collaborative relationships across global teams and stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and problem solver
Essential
A degree in Statistical or any related field Proven experience & capabilities in programming language i.e. C#, Java, .NET, C++, Analytical tools i.e. R, Python, SQL, Power BI Experience in project management
Experience working in digital transformation, analytics, automation, AI-enabled solutions or technology delivery environments
Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex business and technical problems in ambiguous environments
Experience designing and delivering digital, analytics, automation or AI-enabled solutions from concept through to implementation
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Experience working across global or geographically distributed teams
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
Desirable
Experience working with global shared services or finance operations environments
Experience supporting enterprise reporting, analytics or automation solutions at scale
Knowledge of data governance, solution architecture or application lifecycle management practices
Experience working with third-party suppliers, offshore teams or external delivery partners
Understanding of agile delivery methodologies and product-based operating models
Chinese language capability would be beneficial but is not essential
