The Associate Director of Automation Engineering will have leadership responsibilities for leading a staff of 24 professionals and will play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities by directing the Facilities & Engineering department in support of site operations and site master planning.  This will ensure timely, technologically efficient support to ensure consistent and robust operations so we can make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Direct the operation of site automation engineering, including technical responsibility for support all of manufacturing, lab, warehouse, and office areas.  Technical responsibilities include engineering support to the existing site as well as new capital construction/installation activities. 
  • Coordinate outside contract support for internal and external site operations for a GMP facility.
  • Prepare, execute, and oversee capital and operating budgets. Responsible for oversight of all projects assigned to the Automation Engineering unit. 
  • Acts as an advisor to subordinate leaders or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.  Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals and company policy.  Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units.  Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Science or Engineering. Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience working in a GMP environment with a strong working knowledge of engineering and automation principles for process equipment and controls.
  • Minimum of four (4) years successfully managing employees.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills.
  • Ability to lead Lean and drive continuous improvement including reliability-based maintenance.
  • Prior experience with either Rockwell or Delta V automation required.
  • Strong technical problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strategic thinking with a strong business acumen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management including senior management.
